In a tragic incident, former minister B.C. Patil’s son-in-law, K.G. Pratap Kumar (42), committed suicide by consuming poison in a forest area near Arakere village in Honnali taluk, Davanagere district, on Monday.

Pratap Kumar, who was married to B.C. Patil’s eldest daughter Soumya, took this extreme step while traveling from Hirekerur to Shivamogga. He reportedly stopped his car by the roadside near Arakere village and consumed poison.

Locals found him in a distressed state and rushed him to Honnali Taluk Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later shifted to McGann Hospital in Shivamogga, where he succumbed to the poison despite medical intervention.
