Former MLA booked under Gangster Act in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Former MLA Amarpal Sharma, an accused in a murder case, was today booked under the Gangster Act by the Khoda Police in view of upcoming civi body elections, a senior officer said. Sharma, a former of BSP, who had surrendered in the ACJM court for allegedly hatching conspiracy to murder Gajendra Bhati alias Gajju on October 18, is at present lodged in Dasna jail.
Senior Superintendent of Police H N Singh said Sharma has been booked under the Gangster Act so that he may not get bail. In case, he gets bail he may create nuisance and affect the elections. BJP leader Bhati was gunned down by two armed assailants in Khoda on September 2 and another party functionary Balbir Chauhan was injured.
Sharma was sent to 14-day judicial custody additional chief judicial magistrate (II) Abhishek Kumar Srivastav.
The SSP also instructed the police officials concerned to identify anti-social elements and to book them under the Gangster Act to prevent their movement, an official said.
