Former MLA Gopal Bhandary no more

Mangaluru: Former Congress MLA of Karkala constituency, Gopal Bhandary, died after suffering crdia arrest on Thursday night July 4. He was 66.
Apparently he was travelling from Bengaluru by Volvo bus which left there at 2 pm. Once the bus reached Mangaluru, the bus conductor noticed something out of the ordinary with Mr Bhandary as he was not responding to his calls. Hence the conductor informed the cops who arrived to the spot and ascertained that the politician had indeed breathed his last. The corpse was later shifted to Wenlock hospital.
Mr Bhandary first became and MLA by defeating K P Shenoy of BJP in 1999. He contested the 2004 election and lost to V Sunil Kumar of BJP but emerged victorious again in 2008, He was defeated by V Sunil Kumar of BJP in 2013 and 2018.
