Retired SC judge S Abdul Nazeer appointed Governor of Andhra Pradesh

Mangaluru: Former Supreme Court judge S Adbul Nazeer, who was part of the Constitution bench that upheld the archaeological report on Ayodhya, was among six new faces appointed as governors on Sunday.
Former Judge S. Abdul Nazir has been appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh State. He hails from Beluvai in Dakshina Kannada.
S. Abdul Nazir, who was a member of the bench that delivered the historic Ayodhya Ram Janma Bhoomi verdict, retired on January 14. He played an important role in the development of the court complex in the Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.
Justice Nazir was born on 5th January 1958. Enrolled as an Advocate on February 18, 1983. He practiced in the Karnataka High Court, before being appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court on 12 May 2003.
While bidding farewell to the Supreme Court, CJI DY Chandrachud mentioned Justice Nazir’s simplicity, saying that Justice Nazir did not even have a passport till 2019 and traveled out of the country for the first time only a few weeks ago.
