Former Speaker BG Banakar passes away

Haveri: Former Legislative Assembly Speaker Basavanneppa Gadlappagouda Banakar passed away at his residence in Hirekerur, Haveri district on Wednesday night.
Banakar was 91. He was a three time MLA and the Animal Husbandry minister in Chief Minister Devaraj Urs’ Cabinet. Banakar was the speaker of the Legislative assembly between 1985 and 1989.
The last rituals will performed at his home town in Hirekrur at 3 pm today. Banakar is survived by wife, three sons and two daughters.
