Four children drown in reservoir in Odisha

Koraput (Odisha): Four children, including two girls, drowned in a reservoir in Koraput district of Odisha, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when the children were playing near a reservoir adjacent to Paraja Khudupi village in the district, they said. All four of them were aged between 2 and 9 years.

Efforts are on to ascertain the circumstances under which the children slipped into the reservoir, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Koraput) V R Rao.

“A case has been registered and investigation is in progress. We are also trying to ascertain whether it was a case of accident or foulplay,” he said. The deceased were identified as Laxmi Bhoi, Susanta Bhoi, Sanjay Bhoi and Sabita Majhi, he added.
