Four killed, 45 injured in a serial accident

Mysuru: Four including a woman, her son and a child were killed and 45 others injured when two buses and a car met with an accident near Chikkahalli in T Narsipur Road on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Prabha (65) of Dodda Nayakara Beedhi in Kollegal town and her son Vishwanath (30), Basavaraju (60) of Kupparavalli in Nanjangud taluk and Mahesh (10), son of Mahadevaswamy, a resident of Chikkahalli. The injured in the accident were immediately taken to the K R Hospital in the city.

The mishap took place when Veerabhadreshwara bus which was towards Nanjangud from Mysuru was behinf a acr that was heading towards Kollegal. When the bus tried to overtake, a lorry was approaching from the opposite side. To avoid hitting the lorry, the bus rammed into the car. The car hit the roadside tree and the passengers in the car Prabha and Vishwanath were killed on spot and two others were injured. As a result of the collision, the bus turned 90 degrees and came to a halt on the road. Another bus, Udayaravi which was going towards Mysuru from T Narsipur rammed into Veerabhadreshwara bus. Two passengers the Veerabhadreshwara bus were killed on the spot and passengers of both the buses have sustained injuries.

A case has been registered with the Siddhartha Nagar traffic police.
