Four more arrested for violence during anti-CAA stir; CID begins probe

Mangaluru: City police arrested four more persons in connection with that occurred during the anti Citizenship (Amendment) Act stir on December 19.
Fayaz, Bhasha Kalander, Nasiruddin and Mohammed Farooq were arrested on Thursday. With this, the total number of persons arrested has risen to 12.
The police have registered 24 cases in connection with violent incidents. Over 100 miscreants were involved in stone-pelting and violence and attempts are being made to identify and arrest them on basis of the video footage, CCTV footage and photograph of the incident.
Meanwhile, a team of CID officials, led by CID SP Rahul Shahapur arrived in Mangaluru on Thursday to conduct a time-bound probe into police firing. The team visited the place of firing and the place where the protest turned violent. The findings of their probe has to be submitted within three months, it is gathered.
