Four more monkey corpses found

Kundapur/Basrur: Altogether another 4 monkey corpses have been found at various locations in the district.

A dead monkey was found in the fields on the backyard of Veena and Mogerthi’s house at Amtakodlu Moodlakatte of Kandavar village. The information was rallied to the concerned officials and Basrur Primary health Care Centre’s Medical officer Dr Vidya, Veterinarian and forest officials visited the spot and conducted autopsy. The medical officer has informed that precautionary measures will be taken in Basrur, Balkur, Moodlakatte and their surrounding areas.

On and two monkey corpses have been found at Hosangadi and Yedamoge respectively. If the corpses are found in putrefied sate, it becomes difficult to conduct an autopsy and collect samples. We are waiting for the report from the lab, informed Dr Nagbhushan, taluk forest officer.

Caution in Kasaragod district

Kasaragod: In relation to the kyasanur forest disease locally known as monkey fever, precautionary measures have been asked to be taken by the district medical officer Dr A P Dinesh Kumar. With the disease spreading in Karnataka, those living on the borders of the district must take caution, he informed the public.

If a dead monkey is found anywhere, immediately contact the district administration. The corpse needs to be disposed following the safety procedures, he informed.

59 people healed

Udupi: Around 76 persons from the surroundings of Sagar in Shimoga district have been admitted at Manipal Kasturba Hospital till Jan 15th in connection to the monkey fever. 27 persons have been suspected to have been infected by money disease. It has been determined that 46 people do not have the disease. The test reports of three others are yet to be availed. 59 people have been healed and released. 17 people are receiving treatment. No deaths have been resulted due to Kyasanur forest disease, inform sources.
