Four students held for peddling drugs

Mangaluru: Continuing the crackdown against drugs, Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police, under the guidance of city police commissioner Dr P S Harsha arrested four college students on charges of peddling of drugs.

Ananth Kuduva, 21, Gopinath, 24, Krishna Hegde, 19, and Habil Ahammad, 19, all residents of Mangaluru were arrested from Morgansgate here and narcotic substances valuing around Rs 2,50,000, three cellphones and a two-wheeler was seized from their possession.

The accused have been booked under sections 8(c), 20(b), 21, 21(c) and 22 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act 1985.

Based on credible information the CCB sleuths and personnel from the Economic and Narcotic station conducted the raid. The students were regular drug peddlers, their potential target being other students and possessed 22 grams of Cocaine, six grams of MDMA, 75 pills and 10 grammes Charas when they were caught.

A case in this connection is registered at narcotics and economic offences police station.
