Moodbidri: The Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation has announced the implementation of a free insurance scheme for approximately 300 individuals associated with the Kambala sport, including runners, referees, and attendants.

Lokesh Shetty, General Secretary of the Undivided District Kambala Committee, announced this during a press conference.

Based on a request by Dr. Deviprasad Shetty Belapu, President of the Dakshina Kannada District Kambala Committee, along with the office bearers, Patla Foundation President Patla Satish Shetty and his team have committed to providing a free insurance plan to persons associated with Kambala.

The project is set to be launched at the ‘Patla Sambhrama-2024’ event on May 26 at Adyar Garden, Mangaluru.

Interested individuals are required to contact District Kambala Committee General Secretary Lokesh Shetty or Jury Convener Vijay Kumar Kanginamane. They must submit two photos, a copy of their Aadhaar card, the nominee’s Aadhaar card copy, and one photo of the nominee.

Dr. Deviprasad Shetty Belapu said that the insurance scheme includes benefits such as Rs 10 lakh in case of accidental death, Rs 2 lakh for loss of limbs, and Rs 1,000 per month stipend when unable to work, provided there is a medical certificate.

This initiative aims to support the Kambala by providing crucial financial assistance and security to those involved in this traditional sport.
