Free Kashmir row: No lawyer to defend alumna of UoM

Mysuru: The Mysore Bar Association has decided not to argue for Nalini Balakumar, an alumna of the University of Mysore (UoM), who was seen holding the controversial ‘Free Kashmir’ placard during a protest recently.

Advocate Prithvi.. who was ready to represent Nalini in the case has also now decided not to take up her case extending his support to the association.

Protests were held at Mysuru university to condemn the attack on JNU students. Nalini was holding a placard with Free Kashmir remark to draw notice to the internet shutdown in the valley. The Police had registered suo motu case in connection with displaying the placard during the protest.

In a video released late Nalini apologised for the placard stating that she had no intention of creating any confusion.
