Jayaram Banan, the owner of prestigious hotels and known as the Dosa King, has made a name for himself with his inspiring success story.

Born and brought up in poverty in Karkala, Udupi, Banan failed his examinations and ran away from home at the age of 13 to go to Mumbai.

Starting as a dishwasher in a hotel, Banan worked his way up to become a waiter and then a manager, gaining proficiency in all aspects of the hotel business. After years of hard work and perseverance, Banan finally became the proprietor of a South Indian catering hotel in Mumbai.

On December 4, 1986, Banan started a small South Indian restaurant called “Sagar” with a seating capacity of only 40 people. Despite a slow start, the restaurant’s popularity grew, and it was later renamed “Sagar Ratna.”

With the success of his first restaurant, Banan expanded his business by starting Sagar Ratna hotels across Canada, Singapore, Bangkok, and other places around the world. Today, his hotel group is immensely popular in North India for offering excellent quality vegetarian meals.

In addition to his hotel business, Banan also owns The Ocean Pearl Group of Hotels. According to reports, his annual turnover is more than 300 crores.

Banan’s success story is a true inspiration, and his hard work and dedication to achieving his dreams have made him a role model for many aspiring entrepreneurs.
