Kids can be fussy about going to school and making them reach school can be daunting at times. Parents use different tactics to get them to the classroom. A parent in Kandahalli of Yelandur taluk in Chamarajanagar has employed a unique way to get his children, and others, to school every day.
Nagendra alias Kudure Nagendra takes his children, Sannidhi and Sudeep, to school riding on horseback. Yes, you heard it right.
An animal lover, Nagendra got a horse from the race course in Mysuru seven years ago and has been raising it ever since. This pet of his has become the attraction of all schoolgoing children in the village.
Nagendra’s children study at the Nirajan Education Insitute of the Karapura Virakta Matha near his home. He has made it a habit to take his children riding on his pet horse to school.
That’s not all! If any child in the village refuses to go to school, Nagendra appears at their doorstep with his horse. With the irresistible offer to ride the horse, the fussy children readily agree to go to school, villagers say.
His selfless work has received the praise of villagers and school authorities. Head Teacher at Niranjan Convent Yelandur Shamanth Mani says that children are happy and regular ever since Nagendra started bringing them to school on horseback. “One ride on the horseback and the children are happy and readily come to school,” he said.
