G Parameshwar ensures Bengaluru’s potholes will be filled up in a week

Bengaluru: Potholes in Bengaluru will be vanished if the promises by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahangara Palike (BBMP) authorities to the Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara, who is likewise in-charge of Home Department and Bengaluru Development portfolios, is executed. 

Addressing correspondents in Bengaluru, the Deputy Chief Minister said BBMP authorities have ensured him that every potholes in the city will be filled within a week. 

Dr Parameshwara, who is additionally heading the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), warmly complimented B Sowmya Reddy, the Congress canidate from Jayanagar get together electorate in the city, on her triumph. He said thanks to the voters of Jayanagar for resting confidence in the Congress party and offered his thanks to the party workers for wresting the seat from BJP as it was held by B N Vijayakumar.

The Deputy Chief Minister said he has guided the BBMP authorities to draw up plans for counteracting flooding in the low lying regions of the city because of heavy rainfall, particularly by drawing up emergency courses of action in light of the experience during the past three years. 

The Chief Engineers and different authorities of the BBMP have been asked to make sure that roads and low lying zones in the city were not flooded by clearing the water drains and clearing the infringements of lakes and tanks keeping the free flow of rain water. 

Dr Parameshwara said he had visited the Bellandur and Kaggadasanapura lakes and requested that the authorities tackle the issues of the two lakes in three months. 

When asked about the waste disposal issue in the city, the Deputy Chief Minister said the ongoing standoff between the contractors and BBMP workers over the non-payment of dues, which brought about non-clearance of the waste in various parts of the city, has been settled and the contractors have been ensured that all of their dues will be cleared soon.
