Gadag: Huge gathering at funeral of local Cong leader; Case filed against 25

Gadag: Cases were registered against 25 people here for violating COVID-19 guidelines during the funeral of a local Congress leader.

Mahantesh Beladhadi (36), former president of the district Congress ST unit, was suffering from severe respiratory problems and died at a private hospital in Bengaluru.

Large crowd violating distancing norms and other COVID-19 guidelines gathered as his dead body arrived in the city on Saturday and also when his body was kept for paying last respects.

A case was later registered for the violation at the city police station against many members of Beladhadi’s family.
