In 2013, Prashant Gowda married a woman of a different religion and after several months, began assaulting her.

The woman had sought help from the counseling center and also filed a case against him. Soon after they were blessed with a baby girl. Prashant also promised to look after his wife and baby.

The couple was then living in a  rented house near Rona Siddarooda Matt. However, Prashant once again began torturing his wife to take back the case and his wife decided to take the matter to the court.
