Betageri: An elderly man died after being gored by a bull in Betageri town on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Shankarappa Holi (70) from Shigli village in Lakshmeshwar taluk, Gadag district.
Shankarappa was walking on the road when the bull, that was fighting along with other cattle near Government Primary School No. 7 in Betageri suddenly attacked him. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The issue of stray cattle has been a persistent problem in the Gadag-Betageri twin cities. Udayavani had published an extensive report on July 19 highlighting the menace. Despite this, the municipal council’s negligence has led to the unfortunate death of the elderly man.
Betageri PSI Lakshman stated that a letter had already been sent to the municipal council, urging strict measures to control the stray cattle menace. He informed that another notice will be issued to relocate the stray cattle.
