New Delhi: Images of former Indian cricketer Gautham Gambhir wearing a bindi and a saree have been trending on the social media.

The cricketer, who is known to stand up for a cause had chosen to wear this unique attire to extend his solidarity to the transgender community while attending the seventh edition of Hijra Habba in New Delhi.

The event was organized by the HIV/AIDS Alliance India and its theme for this year is ‘Born This Way’.

Hijra Habba is a session where transgenders unite to do a celebration and empower their community by giving speeches. It also aims at educating the people that they have got the talent in them to do something good for the country in the respective fields.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of India, on September 6, 2018, delivered a historic verdict regarding the controversial Section 377 which criminalised the transgenders.
