Badiyadka: In a shocking event, a real estate businessman was kidnapped in broad daylight on May 27 from Badiyadkapete, but was freed by police after a chase.
Moideen Kunhi (49) of Badiyadka Goliyadka was abducted by a gang at around 4 PM when he was coming out of a hotel after tea. The abductors forcefully shoved him into a waiting car and fled from the scene at high speed. The locals’ attempts to stop them failed.
Police, who got to know of the incident, formed a team led by Sub Inspector PK Vinod Kumar to nab the kidnappers.
After a chase, police intercepted the car at Manya and rescued Kunhi. Police arrested three of the abductors — identified as Chengala-residents Sharif, Abdul Hakeem, and Nizamuddin — were arrested.
The gang had slit Kunhi’s fingers with a knife and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Police said Rs 80 lakh real estate deal that had gone sour was behind the kidnap.
