Gang attacks student near Someshwara

Ullal: A student was attacked by a gang of four men near Someshwar, here on Friday, October 12th. The youth who is a student of an institution in the city suffered neck and shoulder injuries in the attack.
The injured youth has been identified as Shreyas Shetty (25), a native of Theerthahalli in Shivamogga district. He is a student of Institute of Fire and Safety Engineering located near Pumpwell and is residing at his grandmother’s house in Bolara.
According to a police source, the youth was pursuing diploma in Chitradurga but discontinued studies and enrolled at the institution near Pumpwell.
Apparently, Shreyas was in constant touch with a girl whom he had befriended in Chitradurga. On Thursday night, Shreyas had contacted a girl over cellphone, however the call was received by a man who threatened him of dire consequences if he did not quit calling the girl. The warning only resulted into a verbal argument between the two and they decided to confront each other at Someshwara beach.
Shreyas reached the beach accompanied with his friends Jhonson and Hariprasad. An ugly verbal confrontation took place between the trio and the gang and resulted with Shreyas being assaulted in the neck and shoulder with a straight razor.
Injured Shreyas was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Thokkottu. The Ullal police have launched a search for the miscreants and after having registering a case.
