Gangavathi: Villagers protest over illegal resort reopening amid COVID-19 lockdown

Gangavathi: A group of women from Jungli Rangapura village have opposed reopening a resort in the village and protested against the owner and guests on Monday, May 25.
Amid COVID-19 lockdown imposed in the country, Jungle Tree resort in Jungli Rangapura village was opened and several IT company employees from Bengaluru – Hyderabad based companies started visiting the resort from Friday.
Irked by this, the angry localities quarreled with the owner and resort guests and asked them to be quarantined with immediate effect. Police interfered in the clash and calmed the locals.
Speaking to Udayavani, PSI G Doddappa said that they will initiate legal action against the resort owner for renting rooms despite the government’s order to shut the resort.
He also said that the issue will be discussed with the higher authorities.
