Gangavati: An aqueduct in the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal at Kesarahatti in the taluk here has developed cracks.
The photo of the crack was posted by a local farmer on his Facebook account.
As the news of the crack on aqueduct spread, officials from the water supply department arrived and inspected the spot and assured the farmers that necessary action will be taken.
Farmers around the canal had planted paddy to months ago which have given a bumper harvest due to the continuous rains. However, the aqueduct has brought fear to many of them.
Most of the farmlands in Raichur, Gangavati, Manvi and Karatagi Sindhunur are irrigated by the water supplied from the Left Bank Canal.
