Gangolli boat tragedy: Compensation will be disbursed from January: Minister Mankala Vaidya

Udupi: Karnataka Ports and Fisheries Minister Mankala Vaidya said that the government will release compensation to those affected in the Gangolli boat fire tragedy from the first week of January.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Vaidya said that a loss of Rs 12 crores has been reported. The government has decided to disburse a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for each affected party, he added.

Minister Vaidya assured swift responses to the demands of the fishermen and added that the government is committed to fishermen’s welfare.

Regarding the ongoing criticism by the opposition on the hijab issue, Minister Vaidya said that Chief Minister Siddaraiamaiah is capable enough to resolve the matter.
