Ganja peddler nabbed; 1.5 kg weed seized

Belthangady: The town police here have arrested a ganja peddler for sale and possession of marijuana at Reshmi road in Kinnigoli near Maddadadka village on Sunday. The arrested is identified as Ummar Faooq (30), a resident of Gerukatte Kaje home in Kaliya village. The police also seized 1,575 kg of ganja worth Rs 15,000 from the accused.
According to the police, the accused had procured 35 packets consisting of 45 grams of weed each in a plastic can at the price of Rs 10,000 from a person in Bidar. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Belthangady SI Ravi B S and staff Ashok Kumar was part of the operation.
Arrested wanted in several cases
The arrested youth is accused in several cases at Belthangady police station as well as many other police stations. Of the three ganja peddling cases booked against the accused, two are registered in Belthangady while one is registered in Punjalakatte limits. The accused is also facing cases regarding assaulting policemen and family dispute.
