Garbage piled up at Corporation premises itself!

Mangaluru: in the ‘Swacchata Sarvekshan’ list by the central ministry for housing and city affairs, Mangaluru City Corporation(MCC) is on the first place and yet, foul smelling garbage has piled up at a building close to MCC and also belongs to MCC. On the other hand, the localities have to suffer this pile of garbage and are living with the fear of disease.
It is being said that, garbage including waste from the building has piled up behind this building owned by MCC and located close to the corporation and though the localities have brought this issue to the notice of the Mayor and other officials, nobody has shown any interest in this regard.
Fear of disease from the pile of garbage
The garbage and waste is piled up behind the commercial building behind the bus stop near MCC and there is a possibility of spread of disease through mosquitoes arising because of the rain water here. There are houses right behind this building, and hundreds of people pass through here daily and the people can only blame the ignorance of MCC.
Dustbins from bus stops disappear!
Mangaluru, which has earned its name in the list of smart cities, is laughed at for ignoring small problems. Important bus stops have been upgraded but since no dustbins have been kept at the bus stops, the people dispose of garbage wherever the like. Hence it is the opinion if the people that it is good to keep dustbins in the bus stops.
Request to the officials
“I had informed the Mayor’s office and the corporation environment official on the problem that could arise from the pile in public area. But nobody gave attention to it,” says Joseph D’Souza, a senior citizen.
