Talapady: The engine of a gas tanker caught fire near K C Road in Talapady, but a major incident was given a miss by the quick-thinking driver on Wednesday evening, January 30th.

The gas tanker which was transporting gas from MRPL in Baikampady to Coimbatore in Kerala started producing smoke from its engine as it was reaching K C Road in Talapady. On seeing the smoke, the quick thinking driver Krishna Raj, stopped the tanker immediately, informed the fire and emergency services and doused the fire himself with assistance from the locals. Thus he evaded a possible major catastrophe.

Motorists, fearing the fire to be due to a gas leak changed their route. The Ullal police which rushed to the location assured the people that there was nothing to fear and regularized the traffic along ht national highway 66.
