Geethartha Chinthane 24: Ultimately, it is God’s will that prevails

We make many sacrifices for the happiness of our spouse, children, and family. But one day, we might feel that all this was unnecessary. Instead of doing things for others, it is better to do them with the thought “bhagavatpreetyartham“—for the love of God.
Without love for God, any form of worship is meaningless. For instance, a murderer is hanged in jail. The initial act was murder, and hanging is, in a way, the same. Both involve taking a life. The murderer acted out of hatred, and he faces punishment for it. However, the executioner bears no hatred; he is merely doing his job. The executioner receives a good salary because no one else wants to do this job.
During the time of the cosmic dissolution, Lord Rudra destroys the entire universe. It is like turning off the lights in a hall after an exam is over. If God decides that the world should continue, it does; if He decides that it should end, destruction ensues. If God wills that the world should continue, no one can bring about its destruction; if He wills that it should end, no one can sustain it. Does anyone wish for death? Even so, has anyone ever escaped death? That is why it is said that God is the Lord of the world. Ultimately, it is His will that prevails.
