Geethartha Chinthane-79: The decline of values
Team Udayavani, Oct 30, 2024, 10:04 AM IST
Women are trendsetters, and society’s direction is determined by them. The creation of a healthy society depends on ideal women, as they must decide the values that guide the community. What women deem valuable, men tend to accept naturally, as men are inclined to make women happy. If mothers and wives adopt unworthy values, society itself deteriorates. The British had strategically planned to undermine Hindu culture, with artists and writers first targeting the image of Vedic scholars. In cinema and theater, Vedic figures were often reduced to comedic roles, aided by a small group of people.
Values used to flow into society through the leadership of Vedic traditions. When leaders are portrayed as corrupt, the entire society begins to look at them with doubt. If a father figure is cast as villainous, the lineage itself may be seen as dishonorable, which is exactly what the British intended. On one side, values are in decline, and on the other, the demand for material desires surges.
