Chikkaballapur: Two police officials have been suspended for alleged duty dereliction in connection with the gelatin sticks explosion that killed six people at Hirenagavalli village in the district here.

SP Mithun Kumar issued the suspension orders against Gudibande police station inspector Manjunath and sub inspector Gopal Reddy.

Six people were killed in the blast on February 22 night, the second in the state within a months span.

On February 7, a case had been registered against the crusher and the quarry owner at Gudibande police station, but the police officials failed to arrest the accused.

The area where the gelatin blast took belongs to Chikkaballapur Taluk, but falls under the Gudibande Police Station jurisdiction.
