Get a KFC candle and make your room smell like fried chicken

Have you ever found yourself stood in a branch of KFC and thought: “Smells pretty good in here. Why can’t MY house smell like this?”

In the unlikely event that you have, this news may be of interest: the chicken conglomerate has created a scented candle, so you can spice up any room of your choosing with a burst of KFC-scented goodness.

However, and apologies if we’ve got your hopes up here, it’s pretty unlikely you’ll be able to get your hands on one of them, unless you feel like paying top dollar on an internet auction site.

They’re in an extremely limited run – only 25 have been made – and they’re being offered as prize drawer giveaways on social media to customers in New Zealand.

The chain unveiled its ungodly creation on Instagram, where it invited followers to enter a draw to win one by offering suggestions for other KFC merchandise they’d like to see in the world.

Chicken-scented lipgloss and body lotion featured among the suggestions, as did chicken skin socks, and KFC knitted chicken drumstick mittens – “with 11 bony digits, one for each of the Colonels delicious secret herbs and spices.”

The candle isn’t the first time KFC’s branched out into unconventional chicken-themed produce. In May this year customers in Hong Kong were offered “lickable” chicken-flavoured nail varnish. “To use,” it said, “consumers simply apply and dry like regular nail polish, and then lick—again and again and again.”

In August KFC’s US arm gave away 3,000 bottles of Col. Sanders’ Extra Crispy Sunscreen. with chief marketing officer Kevin Hochman telling Business Insider: “Suntan lotion always smells like lotion. So we thought – why not make it smell like fried chicken?”
