New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government has moved the Supreme Court against the Karnataka High Court’s order granting protection to the Managing Director of Twitter Communications India Manish Maheshwari in the Ghaziabad video case.
Karnataka High Court had granted protection to Maheshwari from arrest on June 24.
The case pertains to a video in which an elderly man claims that he was beaten up by some youths and forced to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’ on June 5.
The police however claim that he did not mention it in his FIR filed two days later on June 7.
The video was shared on Twitter by a news website and few other public figures.
The Ghaziabad Police then booked all of them and Twiter India’s MD for trying to start communal disturbances.
Maheshwari was ordered to appear before the police and his request to appear through video conferencing was rejected by them.
