Kundapur: A stray dog who lost his legs in an accident was gifted a wheeled prosthetic to make his life a bit easier and all thanks to an engineering student from Hosangadi.
Priya while traveling in her locality came across a dog that was injured in an accident, she provided it with first aid treatment and took him home.
Due to the impact of the accident the dog had lost its two legs and was unable to walk. Priya was depressed by this, decided to make a wheeled prosthetic to help the dog.
Priya made the wheeled prosthetic using plastic pipes and toy tires.
“The dog was injured in the accident, following the first aid treatment I took him to the vet, who told me that he injured his spine and won’t be able to walk. I felt bad for him, so I decided to make a wheeled prosthetic,” said Priya.
Prosthetics, if made right, can restore that range of motion. However, an animal prosthetic has to be individually tailored to the build of the wearer. That means factoring in the animal’s size, weight, height, stance, and gait.
