Bengaluru: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj H K Patil demanded Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to resign from his post for opposing National Water Policy implemented by Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 2002.

Speaking to the media persons on Thursday, he said,” The National Water Policy was one of the best policies introduced by Vajpayee government. The policy was implemented after consulting the stake holders. Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar is weakening the federal system of the country by opposing to share the Mahadayi river water with Karnataka. He doesn’t deserve to be a chief minister as he has no moral right hence I demand him to resign”.

HK Patil also mentioned that the farmers of Karnataka are furious with the heavy statements made by Parrikar to misguide and confuse the farmers of North Karnataka.

He also demanded to know the reason behind Parrikar writing a letter to BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa expressing his willingness to share Mahadayi river water.

He also criticised BJP leaders Yeddyurappa, Jagadish Shettar and Prahalad Joshi for making false promises on Mahadayi river water issue and cheating the people of Karnataka. He demanded apologies from them and also asked Yeddyurappa and Joshi to resign from Lok Sabha and Jagadish Shettar as the Leader of Opposition in Assembly.

HK Patil also blamed the BJP for making the farmers attend Paraivarthana Yatra meet at Hubballi by promising them of releasing a letter written by Manohar Parrikar on sharing the Mahaday river water. He said this was all aimed at making Parivarthana Yatre successful event by gathering people.
