Mysuru: Mysuru Mayor M J Ravikumar on Monday said that he had offered four sarees to Goddess Chamundeshwari on the occasion of Navrathri and Vijayadashami and requested the chief priest to select one among them and drape it on the goddess for the procession. But to his dismay, he found that the idol was drapped with some other saree during the Jamboo Savari.

Ravikumar said, “The idol was draped with the saree presented by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife. It is not right to do politics in such matters. The saree that was already offered should have been used. I will bring the issue to the notice of authorities concerned,” he said.

When contacted, Chamundeshwari temple chief priest Shashishekar Deekshith said, the saree donated by the chief minister’s family was draped on the idol and a saree given by the mayor was placed on the shoulders of the idol.
