Gokarna: A Goddess Durga idol has been found on the shores of Gokarna beach, recently.
According to the sources, when children were playing on the shores, they found the idol submerged in sand. Upon lifting, a gold nose ring was found on the nose of the Durga idol.
Locals say that as per the Hindu traditions, whenever an idol in a temple gets damaged, it is immersed in the oceans and a new idol is concentrated. This also could be an idol that was immersed earlier and might have floated back to the shore.
Meanwhile, Gokarna Police Inspector Vasanth Achar and his team visited the spot and inspected the idol. They have said that a decision would be taken after discussing with the locals.
It can be noted that earlier devotees from Maharashtra had offered puja to a similar idol and were in search of a boat to take it to the mid-ocean and immerse it. Locals are of the opinion that, this might be the same idol.
