Belagavi: A JMFC Court here has summoned Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to appear before the court on September 1 in connection with the election code of conduct violation during the Gokak bye-election.

During the Gokak bye-election, Yediyurappa in a rally had said that all Veerashiva Lingayats must vote for the BJP.

A case of violation of the Code of Conduct was then registered at the Gokak Police Station alleging that Yediyurappa was seeking votes in the name of caste.

The B report was filed in court by the Gokak Police Station, however, the court rejected the report and issued summons to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
