Gold, cigarettes seized at MIA; 2 held

Mangaluru: Over 250 grams of gold valuing Rs 9.65 lakhs and cigarettes were seized from two passengers at Mangaluru international airport here, customs officials said.
In the first incident, a passenger who arrived by an Air India Express flight from Dubai was having 252.98 gm of valuing Rs 9.65 lakhs that was hidden in the form of tiny chunks and concealed inside toys.
In the second case, that took place on October 29 officials confiscated cigarettes worth Rs 6.23 lakhs from a passenger who arrived in SpiceJet flight from Dubai. The cigarettes, of different brands, had been stuffed into 211 packets,
Both the passengers were arrested in this connection.
