Gold smuggled in innerwear at MIA; two ladies arrested

Bajpe: Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) seized gold weighing 314 grams net worth Rs 10,16,000, in two separate cases of gold smuggling attempts here on Thursday, January 17th.

First case

Customs officials seized gold in the possession of a lady passenger. The commodity was in the form of paste weighing 140 gms net worth Rs 4.53 lakh and was concealed in the innerwear.

Second case

Another lady who was also attempting to smuggle gold in a similar manner was caught by the customs officials. Again the gold was found in form of paste hidden in the hidden wear and the seized gold was weighing 174 gms net and was worth Rd 5.63 lakh.

The passengers had arrived at MIA from Dubai by Air India Exp IX814 on January 17.
