Gold worth over Rs 2 crore seized at MIA in Jan

Mangaluru: Customs Officers at Mangaluru International Airport seized gold weighing 3 kg 677 grams worth Rs 2.1 crore from 8 male passengers from January 1-18 this year.
The passengers arriving from Dubai attempted to smuggle gold using different modus operandi such as the concealment of gold in paste form mixed with solid gum hidden in the rectum, gold hidden in a trolley bag and t-shirts.
Customs officials also seized cigarettes worth over Rs 3 lakhs from a passenger.
