Mangaluru: Customs officers have stopped yet another attempt to smuggle gold into the country at the Mangaluru International Airport on December 13.

Gold weighing 338 grams was seized from a person from Kasargod, who arrived here from Sharjah on an Indigo flight, customs officers said.

To evade detection, the 24-carat gold was concealed in the form of yellow metallic rods in jacks of stereo cables, inside incense stick burner stands, biscuit dough hand press machine, and candle holder stand.

The total market value of the gold is estimated to be Rs 16.79 lakhs.
