Gold worth Rs 2.19 crore in one month at MIA

Mangaluru: Customs officials seized Rs 2.19 crore worth of gold in one month at Mangalore International Airport .
As per reports, from May 5 to June 5, 3.688 kg of gold was confiscated and six people were arrested.
The smuggled gold was either found concealed in powder form in several items or in most cases, the gold was concealed in a paste form in various parts of the body.
Last year from January to April, customs officials had seized gold worth Rs 10 crore weighing 21 kg at the Mangalore International Airport.
