Gold worth Rs 36.43 lakh seized at MIA

Mangaluru: Customs officers at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Thursday seized gold worth Rs 36.43 lakh from a lady passenger who arrived here from Dubai.

The accused passenger arrived by Air India Express flight IX384. She hails from Thalangara, Kasargod, Kerala.

The officers seized gold weighing 739 grams & valued at Rs 36,43,270.

The gold in the paste form mixed with solid gum was smuggled through concealment in a grey-colored plastic pouch and stitched inside the undergarment.

A case has been  registered.
