Gold worth Rs 38.53 Lakhs seized from passenger at MIA

Mangaluru: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) thwarted another gold smuggling attempt on October 6.
As much as 741 grams of 24-carat purity gold valued at Rs. 38.53lakhs was seized from a male passenger hailing from Kasaragod, the customs officials said.
The passenger had arrived from Dubai on Air India Express Flight IX384. The gold was in the form of powder mixed with solid
gum was hidden in his rectum, they added.
