Gold worth Rs 75 lakh seized from passenger at KIA

Bengaluru: DRI officials at Kempegowda International Airport seized gold worth Rs 75 lakh from a passenger who arrived from Bangkok in an Air Asia flight On Thursday.
Acting on specific information officials detained Arif Hussain (55), a resident of Adugodi in Bengaluru as he was exiting after immigration procedures. He was found to be in possession of two gold biscuits weighing one kg each and another 250 grams of gold of foreign origin hidden in his hand baggage.
A known offender, Arif had been on the radar of enforcement agencies because of his links with gold smuggling rackets.
He has been booked for smuggling.
