Gold worth Rs.45 lakhs seized from women at KIA

Bengaluru: Gold worth Rs.45 lakh was seized at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here.

The customs officials arrested three women in this connection for smuggling gold by concealing it in their sandals, clips, wheat flour and as decoration on the veil.

It has been reported that, two women reached KIA from Sudan were detained on suspicion. After a detailed check, the customs officials found 1 kg of gold worth Rs Rs 30 lakh in wheat flour packets. The women had smuggled gold after putting it in different wheat flour packets. All four wheat packets were seized and the two were arrested.

In another incident, gold worth Rs.15 lakh was seized from a Dubai based woman here. Gold was concealed in her hair clips and sandals. Officials also found that little balls on her veil were made of gold.
