Golden throne assembled for ‘Khas Durbar’

Mysuru: With very few days left for the Dasara festival, the Mysuru palace is buzzing with activity. A diamond-studded golden throne, weighing 280kgs was removed from the strongroom of the palace on Thursday and assembled for the private durbar to be held by Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the scion of the Wadiyar family from October 10 onwards.
The assembling of the 13-part throne, including the main seat, the umbrella took place at the durbar hall amidst tight security that was followed by special rituals supervised by a group of Palace priests led by Shyam and Srihari.
Meanwhile, restrictions have been placed on the entry of visitors to the palace on few days in light of the special Darbar and other traditional rituals to be held during the ten-day festivity.
On October 10, the entry will be restricted up to 2.30 pm; on October 18, up to 1.30 pm; and on October 19 for the full day. The golden throne will be dismantled on November 2 and returned to the strongroom of the palace.
