Bengaluru: Wakf minister, Zameer Ahmed Khan, who expressed in the Legislative Council when reacting to demands by BJP legislators that the government was set up to arrange examination by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the discoveries recorded in the report presented by former chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Commission, Anwar Manippady, about the misuse and misappropriation of Wakf properties in the state, has now put the government and himself in a fix. Zameer had given this confirmation amid discussions on budget plan.
The said report had been dismissed by the state government led by Siddaramaiah. Zameer concurred for CBI investigation into the report in the upper House, however later started guaranteeing that he had never said so. This socially awkward act may even cost him his berth in the state ministry and turn into embarrassment for the Congress. It is seen that few Congressmen may face issues if the investigation concerning the report is given over to CBI. Hence, a few senior leaders of the party are furious at Zameer.
At the point when Zameer said in the Council that the government is set up to subject Manippady answer to CBI examination, Congress official, Abdul Jabbar, and minister, U T Khader, had attracted his consideration promptly to the way that the report is under the steady gaze of the High Court and subsequently it can’t be given for examination.
Immediately thereafter, Zameer said he had just expressed that the interest for CBI investigation would be examined and that he had not given any solid confirmation. As BJP legislators held fast that the minister had given confirmation, pro-tem director of the Council, Basavaraj Horatti, had said he would verify minutes of the council and inform the outcome.
The BJP individuals, who investigated the procedures, found that Zameer had in reality had promised to hand the report for CBI inquiry. It is said that they have safeguarded a duplicate for sometime later. In the following session, BJP intends to floor the government on this issue. If the minister declines to concede what he stated, he may have to face breach of privilege motion and hence might even lose his ministerial position.
