Mangaluru: Former minister and Congress leader Ramanath Rai said that unseen hands behind criminal activities like in the case of BJYM leader Praveen Nettaru’s murder should be traced and punished.

Addressing the media on Thursday at Congress Bhavan, he said, “People from the upper caste render inciting speeches and come to power. For this, the lower caste people become scapegoats. Murders in the Dakshina Kannada district happen due to friction between organizations. People involved in such criminal activities must be subjected to rigorous punishment”.

“Maximum ex-gratia must be given to Praveen’s family. I urge the state government to put an end to target killings. The government has failed in maintaining the law-and-order situation. This is an alarming condition” he added.
