Udupi: The president pf Udupi Govardhan Giri Trust, Sri Vishvaprasanna Theertha Sripada sent a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informing that there are hundreds of ghoshalas (cowsheds) in the country facing hardship due to COVID-19 pandemic and requested to release a relief fund of Rs. 200 crore immediately.
“The country’s ghoshalas are in an economic crisis in the past six months and the maintenance of them is costly. The estimated maintenance cost to run each ghosahala is Rs. 35 lakhs per month. There are many people and institutions are selflessly nurturing millions of cows in the country,” he said.
